Where the Red Fern Grows *****

By Wilson Rawls
Fiction

DEATH ***
VIOLENCE **
PERIL **

A classic. It made me cry. It is very clean with no language or immorality. A character does die, but it isn't gruesome, and it is kind of sad.
Billy wants nothing more than his own coonhounds to hunt with him, but his family can't afford them. He works for six years to earn the money, and finally gets Big Dave and Little Annie. He loves them and shows them how to hunt. When a cougar attacks, will Billy's beloved coonhounds be okay?
